Sarah’s career began with a strong academic foundation, earning a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences and a Master of Science in Systems Biology from the University of Warwick. Her early career saw her working with prestigious organisations like The Prince’s Trust and the University of Birmingham, where she focused on developing STEM education programmes. Her roles in these organisations allowed her to hone her skills in public engagement and to champion inclusivity within the STEM fields, particularly for LGBTQIA+ individuals.

Among Sarah’s many achievements, she is perhaps best known for founding STEM for Queer Youth in 2020. This groundbreaking initiative, funded by the Biochemical Society, aims to increase the visibility of LGBTQIA+ role models in science, providing young people with the inspiration and support they need to pursue careers in STEM. In 2022, Sarah’s impact was recognised when she was shortlisted for the Positive Role Model Award – LGBT at the National Diversity Awards.
