John Whaite is a baker, who rose to fame after he won the third series of The Great British Bake Off. Since winning, John has opened the John Whaite Kitchen Cookery School and become a staple chef across British television screens. John is also booked as an LGBT speaker to raise awareness of homophobia that continues to plague society and the homophobic abuse he received during his time on The Great British Bake Off.

Back in 2012, John starred on the third series of The Great British Bake Off and wowed the judges with his impeccable baking skills. Named ‘Star Baker’ and baking creations such as the Heaven and Hell Chiffon Cake and Italian Sausage and Roasted Vegetable Pithivier, John finished victorious. Since winning, John has been seen as the co-presenter and judge on Chopping Block alongside Rosemary Shrager and presenting a regular cooking slot on Lorraine. He has also appeared on the likes of Sunday Brunch, This Morning, The Alan Titchmarsh Show and What’s Cooking?

Having also starred as a chef on Steph’s Packed Lunch and studied a Diploma in Patisserie at Le Cordon Bleu, John has authored several of his own cookbooks. He is now the author of titles John Whaite’s Bakes, Perfect Plates in 5 Ingredients, A Flash in the Pan, Comfort: Food to Sooth the Soul and John Whaite’s Bakes at Home. He has also written for Heat magazine, in the ‘Hot John’ column, and a food column for The Daily Telegraph.

John has spoken out openly about the homophobic abuse that he received whilst competing on The Great British Bake Off, now booked as an LGBT speaker at events to raise awareness of the discrimination that continues to face the LGBT community. He is also set to appear in the first male same-sex couple on Strictly Come Dancing, one year after Nicola Adams appeared in the first female same-sex couple on the show. When looking for a speaker who champions diversity and inclusion and supports the LGBT community, John Whaite is a perfect addition to events.
