Karamo Brown is famed as a reality TV star, having appeared on Netflix’s Queer Eye as the Culture Expert. Having enjoyed a successful TV career, also appearing as a contestant on The 5th Wheel, Karamo is now booked as an LGBT+ speaker to share his advocacy for increasing awareness of HIV and mental health amongst the Black LGBT+ community.
Having starred in reality TV for the majority of his career, Karamo made headlines as the first openly gay black man on reality TV. He started off his career appearing as a contestant on The 5th Wheel, and has since appeared in shows such as The Real World: Philadelphia and Are You The One: Second Chances. Other TV credits include Access Hollywood Live, Dr Drew on Call and Dancing with the Stars. Outside of TV, Karamo has also become a published author, having written the titles Karamo: My Story of Embracing Purpose, Healing and Hope and I am Perfectly Designed.
Also a passionate activist, Karamo has acted as a Health and Wellness Ambassador for the National Black Justice Coalition and co-founded 6in10.org– an organisation dedicated to eliminating the stigma surrounding HIV and providing support to members of the LGBT+ community. Having also acted as a Youth Ambassador for the Los Angeles LGBT Centre and ran the LGBT+ support campaign Positively Fearless, Karamo has been awarded both the 2018 Human Rights Campaign Visibility Award and recognition on the Ebony Power 100 list.
Passionate about HIV education and supporting the Black LGBT+ community, Karamo is now booked as an LGBT speaker for a range of inclusion themed events.
