Oscar Davies is the first publicly recognised non-binary barrister in the UK, bringing a unique, lived experience to their work, offering not only legal expertise but also heartfelt authenticity. As a dynamic and sought-after speaker on LGBTQ+ issues, they are regarded as one of the UK’s most influential legal voices on LGBTQIA+ and human rights. Named a Tier 1 “Rising Star” in The Legal 500 and a multi-award-winning Barrister at Garden Court Chambers, Oscar specialises in LGBTQIA+ rights, employment, education, human rights, commercial, and property law.

With a BA Hons in French and History from King’s College London, they achieved their Graduate Diploma in Law before passing the Bar Professional Training Course, both at City St George, University of London. Oscar’s commitment to the field of law earned them various successful positions, even a place on the Paris Bar Exchange Programme. They were a Barrister at Lamb Chambers before practising at Garden Court Chambers.

The 2022 British LGBT Awards named Oscar as one of the ‘Top 10 Outstanding Contributions to LGBT+ Life’. They were also featured in the Evening Standard Magazine’s Unsung LGBTQ+ Heroes 2024 Portfolio. Oscar is regularly invited to speak at events and panels for top institutions and organisations, including the Revlon, Solicitors Regulation Authority, British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, Thrive Law, and major universities like King’s College London. In 2024, they were a finalist at the Young Pro Bono Barrister of the Year at Advocate’s Bar Pro Bono Awards and a finalist for the DE&I Rising Star of the Year at the Legal 500 ESG Awards, at which they won LGBTQ+ Champion of the Year.

They have been featured in publications such as The Times, Reuters, Pink News, and Legal Cheek, and are currently writing a book on non-binary legal recognition. Their ability to communicate complex legal topics with clarity and empathy has left lasting impressions on a multitude of audiences.
