Rahim El Habachi is a queer Moroccan refugee, artist, and passionate LGBTQ+ activist based in the UK. Since seeking asylum in Britain, he has emerged as a dynamic voice for social justice, using his creative talents and personal story to drive conversations around identity, equity, and liberation. Rahim’s work is rooted in lived experience, blending art, theology, and activism to challenge dominant narratives and centre marginalised voices. His journey from persecution in Morocco to artistic prominence in Wales is a powerful testament to resilience and the transformative potential of storytelling.

As a community leader and social justice advocate, Rahim’s influence spans theatre, education, and cultural activism. He is the founder of HOMNA, a North African queer art collective that uplifts voices from the SWANA region. Through collaborations with institutions like National Theatre Wales, Fuel Theatre, and Welsh National Opera, Rahim brings to light stories of queerness, diaspora, and resistance. His artistic approach interrogates power, colonial legacies, and intersectional identity, making his work both deeply personal and politically charged.

Rahim is also an established EDI (Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion) leader, delivering impactful training and workshops across creative and corporate sectors. His sessions explore unconscious bias, intersectionality, microaggressions, and inclusive language, always with an emphasis on cultural nuance and global queer experiences. His facilitation style is interactive and reflective, equipping participants to become active allies and agents of change. Through his podcast Naqsh wa Niqash, Rahim further amplifies queer diasporic stories and fosters cross-cultural dialogue on identity and belonging.

In addition to his activism, Rahim is a visible and vocal HIV awareness advocate, speaking openly about living with HIV to dismantle stigma and promote inclusive healthcare practices. His advocacy centres on psychological safety, representation, and support for LGBTQ+ individuals navigating hostile environments. Whether on stage, in classrooms, or within organisations, Rahim uses his voice to inspire structural change, champion inclusive futures, and ensure no one is left behind. His work continues to galvanise communities to imagine and build a world rooted in justice, dignity, and radical love.
