Olympic gold medal-winning diver, Tom Daley has carved an impressive career both in the pool and as a media personality. From YouTube views to world titles, Tom Daley has used his talents to thrive in a personal and professional capacity. Garnering an international fan base, Tom’s down to earth personality and support of the LGBT+ community has furthered her platform and ensured he is one of the most sought-after speakers on the circuit.
Best recognised for his Olympic success, Tom was the youngest competitor for Team GB at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, aged only 14 when he reached the final. Attending the following two Olympics, Tom went from strength to strength, being the poster boy of London 2012, where he won his first medal, a Bronze in the men’s 10-meter platform event. At the Rio 2016 Games, Tom further achieved a Bronze Medal in the synchronised diving men’s 10 meters. Outside of such Olympic success, Tom has become a triple World Champion, gained a World Ranking of Number 1 and won two Golds at the Commonwealth Games. Tom has recently become the first British diver to compete at five Olympic Games, winning a Gold Medal at the Tokyo Olympics in 2020.
Using his significant YouTube platform to come out to his fans and the world, Tom Daley made a video to share his relationship with a man, to which he received a resoundingly positive response. Since being open about his sexuality, Tom has married his partner, had a baby and publicly advocated for LGBT+ rights. He is an avid supporter and patron of Switchboard which is an LGBT+ charity helpline in the UK that shares the same ethos of acceptance as Tom. The Sunday Times named Tom as one of the 100 Makers of the 21st Century and he also received an OBE, a testament to his influence beyond the pool.
Currently, Tom continues to impress on the diving board and is active on his very popular YouTube channel, where he shares lifestyle and fitness content with his subscribers. Additionally, he is a keynote speaker, known to discuss inclusion, LGBT+ representation and his career.
